Child & Family Therapists of The Wishing Wells Counselling Service, are facilitating these educational workshops with the purpose of helping parents further their parenting strategies and to promote stronger parent-child attachment:

Interactive Groups - December 2009 to January 2010

Group A - Getting Through the Toddler Years - for parents with children 18 months - 3
Group B - Effective Parenting - for parents with children ages 3-6
Group C - Active Parenting - for parents with children ages 7-12

Topics covered in these interactive parenting groups include:

  • Ages and Stages of Development
  • the Attachment Concept
  • Acknowledging feelings
  • Limit Setting Skills
  • Managing challenging behaviors

Time & Date: 2 Wed. evenings, 6:00-7:30pm

The Magic of Play - for parents with children ages 0-12

Research has shown that the ability to soothe and nurture oneself in later life depends on early experiences of being soothed and nurtured. This group aims at exploring how parents can use play to provide a nurturing and soothing experience to their children. We will explore:

  • the importance of attachment
  • the possible challenges for parents to play with their children
  • how to find time and activities for the play time
  • techniques in facilitating secure bonding and building a stronger sense of self

Time & Date: Saturday, 9:30-11:00am
Cost: $15
