Gabriel C. Fung MA-MFT, RCC, CCC
I have always had a passion for helping those around me who are stuck, confused, or hurting. I was invited into the team at The Wishing Wells Counselling Service shortly after it opened in 2008 and eventually joined the partnership in 2013. I bring experience from working with youth and families in a government funded agency setting and with elementary school-age children at a non-profit agency. My passion is in helping adolescents grow towards their potential. I have had the privilege of walking alongside individuals to help them overcome the effects of stress, manage anger, and alleviate both anxiety and depression. Some individuals choose to continue working with me even after their initial goals were met because they see the immense benefits of growing as a person through the counselling process. I am always eager to continue in a coaching role for those who are striving for greater personal development.
In addition to graduate-level training in family systems therapy, I have worked with couples in various stages of their relationships including those who are dating, transitioning into or out of significant relationships, preparing for a life-long commitment in marriage, and those who are struggling after having been married for some time. Counselling is often a last-ditch effort for those who are ready to call it quits on a relationship but want to give it one last shot, however, I strongly encourage you to make an appointment with me early to strengthen your relationship before deterioration progresses beyond a point of no return.
Parenting is one of the most difficult stages of life because of the unpredictable nature of growing children. I offer parenting consultation and parenting skills development to assist you with understanding your children and learning to engage with them in a way that compels them to respond positively. I have had success with parents of young children up to adolescents and have worked with parents who were at a complete loss as to what they should do with their children. Let me offer you the encouragement that there is hope!
I recognize that some of you may be looking for a Christian counsellor sharing your faith background. Having grown up in the church and continued my involvement in a leadership and teaching role, I bring knowledge, understanding, and experience both as a member of a church community and as part of a leadership team. This broad experience allows me to better understand your specific situation and struggle within the church context and my seminary training provides me with the tools to support you according to your spiritual development. Your involvement in counselling remains confidential regardless if you are currently a pastor, in leadership, or attending a particular church.
Whether you are struggling alone or with a significant other, or even if multiple family members are involved, I would be happy to meet with you, listen to your story, and walk with you through this stretch of life’s journey toward hope, healing, and wholeness.
