Pre-Marital Preparation
Preparing for marriage is often mistaken for preparing for the wedding. However, a wedding is only the first day of a life-long marriage. Properly preparing for your marriage will help reduce the unnecessary heartaches and frustrations that many couples eventually feel. Although conflicts are bound to occur whenever two people from different backgrounds come together to engage life’s challenges, our marriage and family therapists have the skills and knowledge to help you learn how to have healthy and productive conflicts that strengthen your marriage.
Pre-marital preparation is recommended whether this is the first time you are getting married, or you have been married in the past. We strongly believe in prevention over treatment whenever possible. If divorce is part of your story, pre-marital preparation in your new relationship will help you identify pre-existing risks, relieve past emotional wounds, and avoid pitfalls. Your counsellor wants to help you become well-prepared for a lifetime of marital satisfaction. Ideally, you will want to set aside time for one session per week for 6 – 8 weeks of premarital counselling. The exact number of sessions tailored for you will be discussed between you and your counsellor.
Call our office to inquire about the next available time that is convenient to you and begin your premarital preparation with one of our highly qualified counsellors. We are confident that you will benefit greatly from your investment in premarital counselling!
